Essaouira runs on two seasons:
Surf season (September–April) Atlantic swells deliver **1–2 m beach breaks** on Essaouira Bay and nearby Sidi Kaouki. Summer mornings (7–11h) still offer surfable waves before the wind builds.
Kite season (April–October) **Alizé trade winds** blow 15–35 knots from the NNE, peaking in July–August. This is when Essaouira earns its nickname: the Windy City of Africa.
