Winter swell season (October–April)
Powerful North Atlantic lows send long-period groundswells (11–16 seconds) into the Moroccan coast. Summer trades drop — glassy mornings and light offshores. Air 18–23°C; water needs a 3/2mm or 4/3mm chest-zip.

Essaouira Main Bay (Plage Tagharte)
Skill: beginner to low-intermediate. Bottom: fine sand. Tide: low to mid. Swell: west / northwest, 2–6 ft.
Curves along the promenade, partly shielded by Mogador Island (Îles Purpuraires). Soft rollers, no dangerous rocks in the main zone — one of the safest setups in North Africa for beginner lessons and whitewater practice.
Sidi Kaouki
Skill: all levels (by peak). Bottom: sand with scattered rock and reef. Tide: mid. Swell: northwest, 3–8 ft.
Bohemian village 25 km south, ~5 km of open coast.
Main Beach: punchy peaks for longboards and shortboards in front of the square.
The Shrine (Marabout): A-frame over sand-covered reef at the white Sufi tomb.

Skill: advanced to expert. Bottom: flat limestone and sharp reef. Tide: high only. Swell: medium west, early winter mornings before wind.
25 km north — world-famous for windsurf and wave-kite. On calm winter mornings: fast, hollow rights over a shallow shelf. Not a beginner spot.
Tafedna
